DAY 8

18 February 2013

Today we returned to Udayan and all the smiling children! We started the day individually teaching groups of children and helping them with their numeracy. We worked with children from nursery age to class 4.

After morning lessons we went off to the house of the Honorary Treasurer of Udayan, Mr Zaki, for lunch. He is also the headmaster of a school nearby named the Assembly of Angels Secondary School, which we visited after our lovely meal.

On returning to Udayan the boys joined in with a football match which the boys at Udayan were playing. Later on in the evening we went into groups and took another lesson, this time teaching English to the older children.

We look forward to another day spent at Udayan tomorrow, along with our performance to the children and staff in the evening.

Well it’s all coming to an end soon, which I suppose will be a relief for some (who are in desperate need of a big mac and chips!!) but also a lot of sadness knowing that when you are back in the comfort of your own environment the struggles and hardship of those you have come to know will continue.

At least you will have the memories to keep of this amazing adventure and I’m sure those you have helped will remember you as well.

Enjoy the rest of your trip and make the most of the warm weather because its possible that when you arrive back in the UK the weather may be slighty cooler than you have had in Kolkata!!

Make the most of your last few days and enjoy,

Best regards to all,
Tony Allen
