Liam Lynch

Hello! I’m Liam and I’m the Chaplain at St Joan’s and currently preparing for ordination as a Deacon for the Diocese of Westminster. I’ve been at JOA since 2010 and this is my first visit to Udayan – in fact it’s my first trip outside of the comforts and familiarity of the ‘western world’! In 2012 I had an idea that some of us from the school should cycle to Rouen, France (where St Joan was executed) and back over a weekend to raise some money for Udayan. The 250 mile round trip was quite a challenge for us novice cyclists but we managed to complete it and raise over £10,000 in doing so. For many reasons I’m excited about the visit but there is also a lot of apprehension – mainly because I’ll be leaving behind my wife to look after three children for the first time since our newest addition arrived last October! I’m really looking forward to seeing how the money we raise as a school is put into action so I can share that with the rest of the community when I get back. Outside of visiting Udayan itself I’m really looking forward to visiting the home of Mother Teresa and praying where this modern-day Saint lived and prayed.
