FAQ

What is this website?
This website was created with the aim of spreading awareness about the Udayan project at St Joan of Arc School. It includes sections on our fund raising for the home, as well as information on Udayan and the work that goes on in Calcutta

How did St Joans get involved with Udayan?
Udayan was first introduced into the Sixth Form at St Joans by Mrs Weldon who is also responsible for running the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes. After hearing about Udayan through one of her close friends, Kathryn Spink, she presented a number of assemblies on Udayan, and gain the support of many of the students in the Sixth Form. Since then, Udayan has been widely promoted throughout the school and has become the primary focus of the Sixth Form’s fund raising.

How can I find out about your trip to India?
There is a section on this site dedicated to the trip to India in February 2005. You can find out about the people who are going and the work we are going to be doing in Udayan. Whilst we are in India, we plan to have an online diary on this website.

Who has supported the Udayan project so far?
Udayan has received tremendous support from the school and sixth form, but donations have been made by many generous local businesses.

How can I help?
You can help by promoting Udayan and telling people about the good work they do. Let them know this website is here, and get them involved in the fund raising for Udayan. If you would like to make a donation to Udayan, then please e-mail us: ‘admin [at] joa-udayan [dot] co [dot] uk.

What will funds be used for?
As with any home, Udayan has running costs such as food and medicine, and although efforts are made to keep these as low as possible, money is needed to keep the home running on a day to day basis. Building has also just started on a new medical wing for the children.
