Our Arrival in Kokata

After an easy journey – besides a two-hour delay (which resulted in a free McDonald’s) – we arrived in Kolkata safely this morning. After much deliberation, the number one recommended in flight movie is Trolls staring Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake. We were surprised to see such a divide between the wealth in Britain and those who live in such poverty in the streets of Kolkata. This divide was made obvious while taking a walk around the streets of Kolkata this afternoon.rnrn

rnrnThe streets of Kolkata are far removed from the streets of London as stray dogs roam the streets and balloons are sold by persistent sellers. The vibrant surroundings and people add to the endless charm possessed by the city as scents from nearby flowers and food stalls complete the sensory experience. rnrnThe hotel itself is an eclectic mix of western trinkets and eastern décor. Tomorrow we will be off to visit the children of Udayan, which no doubt will be one of the highlights of our trip.rnrn
