A Flavour of India 2007
Current and past sixth form students demonstrated once again their commitment to Udayan by putting on an evening’s entertainment of music and dance centred on a presentation of the recent trip to Udayan. The two exotic Indian dances were performed by Maya Paunrana and added wonderfully to the atmosphere. A number of the musicians had themselves visited Udayan either earlier this year or in 2005. They included Grace Stacey, who was responsible for drawing up the musical programme, Tom O’Beirne and James Dodds. One of the singers, Emma Ridley, hopes to follow in Chris her older brother’s footsteps and go on the next trip to the Home in eighteen months. Shahab Uddin, one of four brothers who run Rasal Brasserie in the High Street, was so moved when he heard about the students’ involvement with Udayan and their attempts at raising funds that he supplied the Indian dinner for 150 at no cost. His generosity was applauded by everyone present and his delicious meal was very much appreciated.
The evening was highly enjoyable and a great success, with over two thousand pounds raised. A big thank you to all who were involved in one way or another.
