Welcome to St Joan of Arc’s Udayan Mission 2024

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the St Joan of Arc Udayan Mission 2024, for our visit to India in February 2024. Udayan has been a whole school charity for St Joan’s since 2004 and the 2024 mission will be the ninth trip students from the school have made to visit Udayan. We hope that our website will provide readers with an insight into Udayan and our travels through our daily diary written by us, the students, along with photographs.

The countdown begins…

FIND OUT MORE ABOUT OUR JOURNEY

We look forward to telling you all about our time on a daily basis from India!

I’ve had worst Mondays

On our first night in India most of us had a long peaceful sleep, except from Miss Bowden... who was awoken in the night by a surprise visitor.* Miss Bowden's day didn't get any better when she arrived at breakfast to find out she was murdered. The first victim in our own version of BBC's The Traitors.

Namaste from Udayan

And we’re off! Our journey to Udyan commenced in the early hours of Saturday morning. The journey was smooth - playing cards, shopping and bubble tea - right up until the point of the entry of Kolkata where we nearly lost a member of the team! A clerical error on their part with the visa application, but we managed to get across the border in the end!

The next adventure begins

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to our ninth trip to Kolkata to visit Udayan. The group of ten students and two staff met at London Heathrow this morning all set for a life changing two weeks in the City of Joy visiting @udayankolkata
