On the morning of 13th August 2009 I sat at Gatwick Airport feeling rather forlorn, tears pricking at my eyes, feeling guilty at leaving my husband and children for 3 weeks to travel over 5,000 miles to Udayan; it would be the first time in my life that I had ventured out of Europe.

Towards the end of the Autumn Term, St Joan’s VI Form held their Annual Udayan Week. It was such a great success the Director of VI Form, Miss Devlin, allowed the fundraising activites to continue into the following week. The final sums are yet to be calculated as they wait for the rest of the sponsorship money to come in, however it looks as if the VI Form will hit if not exceed the £1,000 target set by the organisers. £1,000 will feed all 310 children at Udayan and 12 staff for approximately 25 days! Well done to all involved for this remarkable achievement, and very many thanks.
