Today was the day we all knew would come but didn’t want it to – our last at Udayan.
What a day! We turned our attention to preparing for the trip’s gala evening to celebrate our trip
The days starts early at Udayan. Some of the team were up early to join the girls and then the boys with their prayers and then help them with their morning chores. It’s at times like these when you realise that Udayan isn’t just a centre for children to attend – it’s a real home where everyone has a role to play.
The day kicked off super-early with a 5:15am departure to head to the Mother House of the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata.
Today we ventured into the City of Joy led by our fantastic guide, Deba, who provided us with an insight into the history of Kolkata as well as taking us to some of the tourist spots on offer.
Today we ventured out of the city to the west, to visit two other NGOs supported by the City of Joy Aid UK.
Today, we said our goodbyes as our first visit to Udayan was over and we headed off to the city stopping by Titigarh Leprosy Colony run by the Brothers of Charity
