Welcome to St Joan of Arc’s Udayan Mission 2025

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the St Joan of Arc Udayan Mission 2025, for our visit to India in February 2025. The 2025 mission will be the tenth trip students from the school have made to visit Udayan and marks the twentieth anniversary of the first trip back in 2005 .

We hope that our website will provide readers with an insight into Udayan and our travels through our daily diary written by us, the students, along with photographs.

Let’s start by taking a look back at out 2024 trip

The group which went to India to visit Udayan included 10 students (Lola Boi, Michael Bradfield, Evangeline Delargy, Madeleine Drury, Charlotte McEvaddy, Emily McEvaddy, Ruby O’Connor, Isabel Perez-Pineda, Amy Rodrigues, Eva Wise) together with 2 teachers Liam Lynch, Becky Bowden and former student and trustee of City of Joy Aid, UK – Chris Mann.

The group who will be going to India to visit Udayan includes 10 students (Irene Almarcha, Olivia Barrows, Macie Boi, Amy Davis, Victoria Osorio, Carmen Perez Pineda, Catherine Pomeroy, Caitlin Prunty, Ola Szulc, Erin Walsh) together with 3 teachers Liam Lynch, Becky Bowden, Annabelle Barton and former student and chair of City of Joy Aid, UK – Chris Mann.

On Tuesdays we do henna

Today began with Liam's murder. For those for whom this is their first blog post, you should know that we're playing an ongoing game of The Traitors, now in season 3!

Week two commences!

Back to normality for us waking up this morning no longer in the city but in Udayan which we now call home. The group gathered at breakfast to find out that Amy had been the victim of one of our newfound traitors, some might call this Karama.

Mass at the motherhouse & our return to Udayan

Today started with an 5am wakeup call, not in preparation for our return to Udayan, but to join the Missionaries of Charity for mass at the Motherhouse – the headquarters for Mother Teresa’s sisters.
